Different Hosting Packages and Choosing the Right One for You

Posted on 05:32 by Unknown

Companies called hosting providers are in the business of giving websites virtual "homes" in cyberspace. There are many types of hosting services and "Web site solutions," and knowledgeable webmasters can customize approaches for their own, unique needs. Still, less experienced people will need sites, too, which is why hosting providers continue to offer three common "packages" - dedicated hosting, shared hosting and virtual hosting. Even among this range of choices, today’s leading hosting companies will offer more personalization, often calling them "managed" and "semi-managed" packages.

You need to know the differences between and among these packages, just as you need to compare cost, security, service and expertise among the providers. When you start to know the terms and understand the technology, you can narrow down the list of firms that will eventually produce the winner. Learning about the different hosting packages and choosing the right one for you is a crucial step in getting your business to its peak performance in this networked global economy.

Shared packages

Sometimes companies (and individuals) will sign up for the least costly plan they can find, especially when starting up their first site. The lowest costs are among the "shared hosting" plans, and the term means pretty much what it suggests - you will share disk space on a server with 20 or 200 other Web sites. These agreements contain a limit on the amount of CPU (Central Processing Unit) use as well as disk "real estate" that your files can take up. For small companies and individuals, this is not typically a problem.

These kinds of hosting plans didn’t spring out of thin air. Hosting firms looked at the behavior of different kinds of customers, and one conclusion they made (since verified a few million times) was that most customers didn’t use all the storage space or transfer "bandwidth" they had been given with their plan. If you plan on growing, you will need a plan that can grow with you, not a low-use shared plan that charges you a penalty for doing more transfers and having more visitors.

Virtual private hosting

With a Virtual Private Server (VPS) you get a Virtual Dedicated Server (VDS), and although you still share space you will have your own area, or partition, on the server. Big servers are often "divvied up" into multiple, separate (called "discrete") partitions that run their own operating system and can be started ("booted") individually. This is a very critical feature from some companies. Despite sharing space on a physical device, your partition acts like its own server. Naturally - and physically speaking - your site will still share disk space, have a CPU usage limit and be restricted to a certain amount of transfer and bandwidth. However, you have much more room to negotiate the kind of package deal you need, and virtual hosting has become quite popular.

Dedicated packages

Dedicated packages get you and/or your company a customized service with benefits like improved security, the best infrastructure and higher speeds. Because they are tailored to the unique, often demanding needs of customers - precise amounts of bandwidth, storage space, memory, etc. - these are costlier packages. What you are doing, in effect, is renting a server that you do not share with anyone, which enables and empowers you in many ways. You can run CPU-intensive programs at any time, not worry about your Web site’s performance affecting other sites (or being affected by them) and not be brought "crashing down" by others’ errors.

If you have a large company with a complicated, media-intensive, high-traffic Web site - or two, or three - you will find the dedicated plan to be ideal. The "discrete server" kind of hosting gives you control, and completely, over content, structure, operations and activities. Not everyone needs this kind of hosting package, but if you do, you will not make your Web strategy work with anything less. Past a certain point, of both bandwidth and operational flexibility, there is no reason not to have a dedicated server.

Managed vs. semi-managed and reseller hosting

If you choose managed hosting, you lease the equipment and the connections, which the owner of the data center will keep powered up and running (the hardware part). Managed hosting exceeds basic hosting because there are shared responsibilities, better performance, heightened security and guaranteed (and higher) up time. Semi-managed, or root server hosting, lets you control the server with "root access." The provider will maintain the hardware, and you will manage all the other aspects of the site (backups, upgrades, etc.). With root access and administrator privileges, you can do anything you want.

Reseller hosting allows businesses to host sites for their own customers. If you resell hosting services it means that you contract with a hosting provider to sell their services with your name or brand. There are as many different ways of putting these kinds of plans in effect as there are hosting firms out there, and it is not something you should consider doing without sufficient expertise.

The right plan for you depends on your needs, so you could possibly choose any of the hosting plans discussed here. You may start slowly and then grow into a costlier, more powerful package. When you realize how hosting plans work, you can compare services, security and costs much more accurately, which is just what you want when you are ready to start up or expand your company’s site.

Choosing the Right Web Hosting Package for Your Business

Posted on 05:29 by Unknown

Do you have a number of websites hosted in different hosting accounts?  Do you know that webmasters of today can have hundreds of websites hosted under one single hosting account without spending too much on hosting?

If you ever wonder how in the world they do that, the answer is simple. This is made possible by using one of the Shared hosting features called “add-on domains.”

Today, many web hosting companies will offer you one or more free add-on domains with the hosting account you purchase from them.  More often, a web hosting package allows you to have unlimited add-on domains, which means you can host any number of websites within your hosting account without paying additional fees. This is one way to inexpensively run several websites without spending a lot in hosting.

Signing up under a reseller hosting account is also a great way to host multiple websites on one account.   At the same time, a reseller account will allow you to sell web hosting accounts to other webmasters.  A reseller account running under Linux environment is provided with a Web Host Manager which you can use to set-up individual accounts for every customer.   Within the Web Host Manager, you can add, modify and delete individual hosting packages that you want to sell.  You are also free to set your own price, the space, bandwidth limit and the number of domains that can be hosted per hosting package.

If you decide to use it for personal use, it allows you to set-up an individual control panel for every domain name that you have.

Selling website hosting is also a great way to make money.  That is the reason why a lot of online entrepreneurs already entered the web hosting business.  A reseller account sometimes comes with many great features like unlimited email accounts and subdomains.  The features that you get will depend on the kind of reseller plan you sign on with.

Hosting using Virtual Private Servers (VPS) and Dedicated Servers are also some other types of hosting that enable you to get more control over your hosting account and both types supports multiple domain hosting plus a lot more advantages than the shared hosting.

A Virtual Private Server for example, can be useful if you want to run an e-commerce site, host multiple domains, set-up an intranet and others.

Hosting under Virtual Private Server, unlike the shared hosting, would enable one to own and manage the hardware and all one have to do is to rent space and internet connection from the data center.   Virtual Private Server is also called co-located server and is a very wise alternative if you are outgrowing your shared hosting plan.

The dedicated server on the other hand, is a single computer server which aims to support one’s every need in a network.   With a dedicated server, one can install and configure any program he wants.   It is normally more expensive than a virtual private server plan and since you are in control of the server, you are also responsible for its installation and maintenance.

A dedicated server is designed for those who are experienced in administering their own network but can also be for those who are willing to learn.

Signing-up for a dedicated server hosting plan will allow one to fully customize or build his own dedicated server.  One can also just choose and pay only for the features he needs.  One advantage of having your own dedicated server is it doesn’t put you on the risk of the server being congested because of other people’s bandwidth unlike the shared hosting.

So before you sign-up for a web hosting account, it is important that you evaluate first your needs and then decide what kind of web hosting plan that fits for you.

Web Hosting - Disadvantages of Choosing the Wrong Server

Posted on 05:31 by Unknown

Selecting the right web server is considered very crucial decision in online business. It is due to the fact that the web server can either make the business or can even destroy one’s business.

There are two types of servers, one is Virtual Web Hosting and the other is Virtual Private Servers.

Since several years Virtual Web Hosting has been the only way to go when selecting a web server. One of the reasons for the Virtual Web Hosting’s popularity is that they supports the necessary files and allows one to have more freedom than any other conventional web hosts. But now one can have more freedom than ever before with Virtual Private Servers. However, Virtual Private Servers should not be confused with Virtual Hosts, as they both are entirely different from each other.

In this article the difference between a Virtual Host and a Virtual Private Server is explained. Moreover the advantages and disadvantages of both the servers are also explained in order to give understanding as to which server should be chosen for business.

Virtual Hosting

Virtual Hosting is also known as Shared web hosting, where one can share the physical server and a single set of software applications with other users. Virtual Hosting was very popular in the past due to features like fast deployment, strong resources, and attractive price. Another advantage offered by Virtual Hosting is that it provides a powerful, reliable, and professionally managed server and it can be easily handled without having to have advanced technical skills, thus making it ideal for an individual, small business, or even a fresher webmaster.

The greatest disadvantage of Virtual Hosting is that the server is shared with other users, which are configured and even controlled by an administrator, not user. Thus there is no control in the hands of the users and in case of adjusting or setting configuration one have to contact the administrator every time. Even if one manages to get a hold of the administrator, then also they may not fulfill the request. It's all up to them as they are the administrator. Thus these are the limitations faced by users when control is not in their hands.

Virtual Private Servers

Virtual Private Servers are very popular now days for giving the good and satisfactory results. A Virtual Private Server is a single server that is partitioned at the root into multiple dedicated servers. This enables one to share the cost of the network connectivity, hardware, and system maintenance with other hosting customers, with maintaining the flexibility and freedom.

The most important advantage of Virtual Private Servers is that they allow complete control to users and they have security advantages of a dedicated server at very low cost. Thus one can have access to the virtual root, Telnet, web configuration files, and full CGI-BIN access. Not only that, they also provide access to one’s password and send mail configuration files to their users. Thus after considering above advantages it can be concluded that a Virtual Private Server is an excellent solution for small to medium size businesses having complex requirements.

However, there is one disadvantage with Virtual Private Servers, i.e. one need to have some program knowledge in order to control and configure the settings. But this advantage is also evaded by most businesses that offer Virtual Private Servers as they provide detailed manuals making them easier to configure and control. Thus no need to learn the programs as well.

Now one can decide which server is right for him/her. However it all depends on user’s requirement as well as the size of your network.

If one plans on having just one web site and have absolutely no programming knowledge, for him/her Virtual Hosting serves as a best as its quite economical as well. A Virtual Host costs around $20 to $50 per month for an account, as against a $100 or more charged by a Virtual Private Server.

On the other hand, if one is having a larger network requiring multiple web sites and user is having some programming knowledge, then a Virtual Private Server can serves a best. One can host up to 50 web sites on a Virtual Private Server account, instead of having multiple Virtual Hosting accounts, which is quite expensive.

Thus one must make sure while selecting a server that it is as per requirement and it supports essential software for a flourishing online business.

Choosing a Colocation Data Center in South Florida, Miami, Fort Lauderdale, and Palm Beach

Posted on 05:29 by Unknown

How do you choose a colocation data center in South Florida, Miami, Fort Lauderdale, and Palm Beach? First you have to know what colocation – also called colo – is, of course. According to a colocation company which is itself based in South Florida, Miami, Fort Lauderdale, and Palm Beach, a collocation data center is what is known as a carrier hotel which provides network, server and storage facilities, as well as interconnection with other telecommunications service providers and network service providers in a simplified process and at lower cost. These are often provided by network access point facilities such as NAP of the Americas.

Colocation companies usually also provide broadband internet access, VoIP, internet network security, managed dedicated colocation hosting, dedicated virtual servers, private networks, data storage and data backup, among other services. They provide companies with the ability to allow load balancing, mirroring and growth which may be difficult to do when a company is using a server that is in-house. Providing such business applications accessed online through the internet with data and software stored on virtual servers in a remote location is also known as cloud computing.

If the clients do not have server equipment of their own, they can lease dedicated virtual servers for a year, renewable, from colocation companies. They may also choose to rent dedicated virtual servers on a monthly basis. This way, they can be flexible and can upsize or downsize the server capacity they are renting, as necessary. Leasing requires minimal cash outlay for setting up as opposed to making an expensive business server purchase.

When leasing dedicated virtual servers, you can choose from unmanaged servers or managed servers. The advantage of leasing unmanaged servers is that the client has full control over all elements of the leased server functions. This includes the server’s operating system, its applications and all web content. On the other hand, it may be more convenient for a client to pay an additional service fee for professional technical assistance in server management.

With dedicated virtual servers clients can, in turn, offer dedicated hosting or managed hosting services since they do not share the server with other companies. They can host multiple websites, as well, and even sell such services. They can get enough disk space and power from their leased server and pass on the competitive pricing to their own clientele.

If the client has its own server equipment complete with the corresponding duly licensed software, it can house its servers in a reliable colocation data center facility. The advantage is that such facilities are state-of-the-art, with environment controls that are carrier class, redundant uninterrupted power supply, and an uptime guarantee of 99.9% founded on a Tier 1 Internet foundation. They also have round the clock maximum security protection. Colocation data centers lease rack space for the client’s servers and provide power, internet access and complementary services such as backup and storage, tape rotation, firewall protection and others. The range of services is flexible and scalable depending on the needs and budget of the client.

Clients who own their server equipment have the option of installing and maintaining their servers by themselves in the collocation data center whenever they need to, or sending all their equipment to the collocation data center to be installed and maintained professionally by technicians of the service provider.

Colocation data centers that offer the lowest prices but do not give an uptime guarantee for your server will not save you money. In fact, you will be putting your entire business at risk if you choose such false economizing options. Any downtime means loss of client trust in your company and you cannot afford this. In choosing a colocation data center in South Florida, Miami, Fort Lauderdale, and Palm Beach you should, therefore, choose one with the best uptime guarantee complemented by the finest software, the best operating system and expert technical support.

Choosing a Bandwidth Service for Your Large Enterprise

Posted on 04:28 by Unknown

With much to consider when deciding what to base your large business' voice and data network infrastructure on, the task can be a complicated and frustrating. Determining which network to use - T1, DS3, OCx, fiber, Ethernet, etc. - is an important business decision. You want to ensure your employees' needs for laptop, PDA, etc. are met.

With each office becoming a cheap Ethernet port for connectivity, the emphasis is on end-to-end Ethernet architecture at all layers. These layers include the physical interface, service and transport layers. In common areas like the executive lounge, lobby, and other areas, broadband wireless will be accessible.

When talking about backhauling traffic back towards the service provider, it's important to know that service providers have invested heavily in their E1s and T1s. While end-to-end Ethernet infrastructures are promising, a lot rides on the service providers overhauling their access networks.

Something else to consider is the demand for such products and services. Managing Ethernet SLAs in a similar fashion as E1s and T1s therefore demands an equivalent to the smartjack devices. While they are available now, an increase in the demand for such products is currently needed to reduce the costs. There's no sense adding cost to the E1/T1 revenue stream, right?

While the push for bandwidth products is towards Ethernet and packet, TDM (T1/E1) will continue to dominate the market for the next few years. This is a result of the sync requirements of tall buildings such as hotels, resorts and casinos which have masts at the top for their cellular access. These needs will increase the development and deployment of Ethernet for such standard bodies as MEF and also the equipment vendors.

Large companies can also offer laptop connectivity via a data card that makes use of their cellular network, especially since cellular carriers now offer WiFi access (co-located).

In order to handle the additional bandwidth needed by these "front-end" air interfaces (i.e., WiFi, WiMAX, 2G, 3G, 3G+, HSPA, LTE and WiMAX), E1s/T1s (PDH) can backhaul these needs.

With Internet/data access being in such high demand for employees, conferences or other meetings, large businesses should consider adding this type of broadband service to their buildings. While VoIP is an inexpensive option, most employees or clients would use their cell phones or the business' phone lines.

In summary, any large company or enterprise looking to upgrade or modify their current bandwidth needs must carefully consider what their employees' needs are, including their business clientele who would utilize conference rooms. Doing their homework and researching all bandwidth products versus their business' needs will save time and money in the long run. Never sign up for any bandwidth product until this is done.

If you need help with these decisions, it's strongly recommended you take advantage of the free research and support available through http://USaveTelecom.com

Factors to Consider When Choosing a VPS Hosting Plan

Posted on 05:29 by Unknown

Here are some important factors to consider before deciding on a VPS web hosting plan:

The Price

There are three main types of VPS web hosting: unmanaged hosting, managed hosting and unmetered hosting. In terms of pricing, metered and unmetered hosting are more affordable. With managed VPS, you will be given 24-hour server monitoring through an experienced professional system administrator, but this service comes with a more expensive price tag.

Bandwidth

The bandwidth you choose will depend on the amount of data your site has and the amount of traffic expected every day. In terms of bandwidth allocation, there are generally two options to choose from: unmetered bandwidth VPS and metered VPS. Unmetered bandwidth VPS means that there is an unlimited amount of data transfer allowed at a maximum data transfer rate.

This is much like unmetered bandwidth dedicated servers but these plans offer bandwidth pipes that are available to you only, unlike in VPS where it is shared among other independent machines. Metered bandwidth means that you are charged based on your monitored bandwidth usage. Make sure you consult with your web hosting provider regarding the bandwidth allocation your site needs.

Uptime

This is one of the most important factors when choosing a metered of unmetered VPS hosting plan, yet it is very difficult to measure. You will need maximum uptime and very minimal or no downtime.

Power

VPS pricing varies depending on how much power and space your site needs. It is always safe to start with the smallest plan, especially for new online businesses, then expand as the need arises. Remember though to be realistic and account for at least one year of potential expansion when choosing a plan.

Features

Most VPS hosting works the same way - there are aspects that are easy to manage, among those are the backup tools. If you are planning on hosting several websites on one virtual private network, make sure that you choose a plan that allows unlimited domains on the same VPS.

If you have no idea as to which VPS hosting plan is good for you, don't hesitate to consult one of us here at NQhost. We have a wide variety of plans and packages to suit your every need.

Choosing the best VPN service provider is the key to safe anonymous surfing

Posted on 05:33 by Unknown

VPN is the acronym for virtual private network. There are a number of VPN service providers available in the Internet. VPN service is most often used by the organizations in order to provide remote access to a secure organizational network. Just imagine that if you're working from home and you need to access the files that are in your office computer, which are only available via your office network. In such a case, if your office has VPN and your home computer is set up to connect to it; you can get all of your files from office without worrying about the data's security that's transported over the net.

VPN is also used for masking the IP address of computers that are connected to the Internet. By using this, people can surf net secretly or even access location-restricted services. Internet users mostly use VPN in the second situation. So, VPN is mainly used to unblock website like Skype, Youtube, Facebook etc.

In order to experience the VPN service, it is important to have a VPN account. Most of the service providers make this easy for the prospective subscribers—no software installation, no IP numbers to configure in web applications, easy to follow instructions on how to VPN etc. Now you will surely be curious about how to VPN?  It is the PPTP or Point-to-Point Tunneling Protocol in the VPN Windows server or VPN Linux Windows server that enables the users of Windows or Linux to log on to Power Elf Servers. By building a secured connection of 128-bit encryption via PPTP from computers to VPN servers, this can be done.

Before being a VPN service provider subscriber, decide on the use of VPN: Is it used only for browsing web content, downloading torrents or only for watching Internet TV? Each service provider offers specific terms and conditions for its services. Some may include restrictions against illegal actions such as P2P file sharing of intellectual property. So, it's best to read out the fine print before committing to something.

Online forums are great places of feedback on particular VPN service providers. If customer testimonials are good, it's an indication that you can do business with that provider but if the feedback is negative, you must never do business with that provider. You should always try getting as much information as possible about the provider before subscribing.  Secure email tools and anonymous surfing is a great way of improving your chances against online threats.

Robin Hanson, (VPN Service provider) is a technology consultant, trainer and writer who has authored a number of books on computer operating systems, networking, and security. He is also a tech editor, developmental editor and contributor to over 20 additional books and articles are regularly published on reputed technology related websites. Vpnworldwideoffers VPN service and offers an open VPN tunnelling service constituting a Secure Socket Layer. It has several servers to choose from and it comes very cheap. It will surely make the users feel safe over the net. It is quite beneficial to all the user. VPNworldwide offers you the exciting encrypted internet services enabling you to know how to Unblock VOIP.
