Meanings of Frequently Used Terms on the Internet

Posted on 05:30 by Unknown

Copyright (c) 2010 Ivana Katz

If you've been on the internet for a while, you've no doubt come across new words, whose meaning may have baffled you. It's difficult to keep up with the latest computer and internet lingo, but here are a few of the new commonly used terms on the internet today.

Affiliate Program
This is a program where a person (an affiliate) is paid a commission to advertise a particular product, service or web site. The affiliate is given a special link to refer customers to the target web site. The company pays commission based on hits and/or sales from these links. The amount of commission paid varies. Most programs pay for sales; some programs pay for clicks on their site. Some programs even pay for finding new affiliates.

Avatar
An icon or graphic that represents you on message boards, chat rooms, IM programs, 3-D chat rooms and virtual worlds. Your avatar can be whatever you want it to be. There are graphic elements, animals, cartoons and pictures used as avatars on the Internet.

Blog
A blog is a Web site, usually maintained by an individual, with regular entries of commentary, descriptions of events, or other material such as graphics or video. Entries are commonly displayed in reverse - chronological order.

Many blogs provide commentary or news on a particular subject; others function as more personal online diaries. A typical blog combines text, images, and links to other blogs, Web pages, and other media related to its topic. The ability for readers to leave comments in an interactive format is an important part of many blogs. Most blogs are primarily textual, although some focus on art (artlog), photographs (photoblog), sketches (sketchblog), videos (vlog), music (MP3 blog), audio (podcasting), which are part of a wider network of social media. As of December 2007, blog search engine Technorati was tracking more than 112 million blogs.[2] With the advent of video blogging, the word blog has taken on an even looser meaning - that of any bit of media wherein the subject expresses his opinion or simply talks about something.

Breadcrumb
A breadcrumb or breadcrumb trail is the part of the navigation that shows you where you are. Breadcrumb trails are often found near the top of Web pages and define both the current location within the site hierarchy as well as primary pages above the current page.

Cookie
A message given to a Web browser by a Web server. The browser stores the message in a text file. The message is then sent back to the server each time the browser requests a page from the server.

The main purpose of cookies is to identify users and possibly prepare customized Web pages for them. When you enter a Web site using cookies, you may be asked to fill out a form providing such information as your name and interests. This information is packaged into a cookie and sent to your Web browser which stores it for later use. The next time you go to the same Web site, your browser will send the cookie to the Web server. The server can use this information to present you with custom Web pages. So, for example, instead of seeing just a generic welcome page you might see a welcome page with your name on it.

Deep Linking
This is when you link to a page other than the homepage of a website.

Pay Per Click Advertising
Pay Per Click Advertising, or PPC, is an online advertising payment model in which the payment is based on the number of "clicks" that are generated. PPC can also be called "cost per click."

As an advertiser, here's how it works. You bid for certain keywords that are related to the content of your site (the information or products that you offer). When a user searches with these keywords in a search engine, they are shown your listing, as well as others that are bidding on the same keywords. If the user clicks on your listing, you pay the amount that you have bid. The highest bidding advertisers will appear first in the search results, and the subsequent listings are ranked by the amount of their bid.

Bids for keywords can be anything from a few cents to a few dollars per click. Part of managing a PPC advertising campaign well is determining how much needs to be spent per click in order to get a good balance between visibility (your listing showing on the first page of the search results) and the advertising budget.

Podcast
A podcast is a series of digital-media files, which are distributed over the Internet using syndication feeds for playback on portable media players and computers. The term podcast, like broadcast, can refer either to the series of content itself or to the method by which it is syndicated; the latter is also called podcasting. The host or author of a podcast is often called a podcaster.

RSS
RSS stands for "Really Simple Syndication". It is a way to easily distribute a list of headlines, update notices, and sometimes content to a wide number of people. It is used by computer programs that organize those headlines and notices for easy reading.

Search Engine Optimisation
This is the method of optimizing your website content, meta tags, linking structure, etc. in order to ensure good website rankings.

Social Bookmarking
Social bookmarking is a method for Internet users to store, organize, search, and manage bookmarks of web pages on the Internet with the help of metadata.

In a social bookmarking system, users save links to web pages that they want to remember and/or share. These bookmarks are usually public, and can be saved privately, shared only with specified people or groups, shared only inside certain networks, or another combination of public and private domains. The allowed people can usually view these bookmarks chronologically, by category or tags, or via a search engine.

Most social bookmark services encourage users to organize their bookmarks with informal tags instead of the traditional browser-based system of folders, although some services feature categories/folders or a combination of folders and tags. They also enable viewing bookmarks associated with a chosen tag, and include information about the number of users who have bookmarked them. Some social bookmarking services also draw inferences from the relationship of tags to create clusters of tags or bookmarks.

Social Networking
Social Networking means exactly the same thing online as it does offline. It is a social structure made up of relationships and links, whether strong or weak, to people we have something in common with. Apply this to the web and you have a series of websites where people gather to interact with other like-minded individuals. Just like offline social networking people are given a forum where they have the opportunity to meet others in a familiar environment, to chat, participate in events, combine temporarily to form sub-networks, create private networks or interact in public networks.

Wiki
A term meaning "quick" in Hawaiian, that is used for technology that gathers in one place a number of web pages focused on a theme, project, or collaboration. Wikis are generally used when users or group members are invited to develop, contribute, and update the content of the wiki. Wikis can be passworded in various ways to control or allow contributions. The most famous wiki is the Wikipedia.

The recent growth of Social Networking online has been seen in the proliferation of sites such as MySpace, Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, LinkedIn, Bebo, Flickr, Friends Reunited being among the more well known ones.

Bandwidth Management A Must Software For Internet Usage

Posted on 04:28 by Unknown

Bandwidth is defined as throughput, amount of data that can be passed at a time. Bandwidth Management is very important because it is the central point from where all the systems are given the flow of internet. Allocating a specified bandwidth to every system is very important because if this would not be allocated then even if a single point consuming the most bandwidth would slow down the performance of the rest of the network. It can be very disadvantageous and solution must be addressed for this problem. Other wise a very wrong decision is taken to increase the bandwidth but his is never the ultimate solution of your problem. Instead bandwidth Management effectively utilizes your bandwidth and also stops the problem of unnecessary system hanging and delays. It is a very cost effective and efficient way of managing the available bandwidth.

It actually controls the upload and the download speed thereby acting as a gateway to every system internet connection. This is very important and a vital element of any internet connection that what uploading and downloading speed do you has for the internet. Bandwidth Management ensures that the whole network is performing in a smooth manner with little or no network failures, hanging and delays, The best part is the dedicated speed that is allocated which makes sure that no system is using excess of what is required or what it has paid for. This results in the overall efficiency of the network resulting in minimal data losses and failures.

If there is no bandwidth allocation then in large organizations, employees waste excessive time in watching unnecessary videos and clips just because they have access to the internet and an unlimited bandwidth. This can be quite costly in the long run as well as people would spend most of their times wasting and being less productive towards office work. That is the reason why bandwidth must be dedicated and specified. Bandwidth Management ensures and keeps track of what every systems is given the amount and how much is used and what is the cost that is incurred. In contrast to the unlimited bandwidth that is only the wastage of time as well as money. Two major resources loss can occur due to unattended bandwidth management.

Another very important feature of Bandwidth Management is that they cut costs as the internet connection is switched off after the office hours. This is very helpful in the long run profitability of organization as well as the productivity of employees. It gives the detailed statsic of every single system that is connected to the network. Thus keeping a log of evey system. In the same any new system added is also recognized automatically and given the desired required bandwidth. This software is very ideal for hospitals, universities and educational institutions specially since young students and children tend o waste a lot of time surfing unnecessary on internet. Moreover it is ideal for small to large scale organizations as well as for government institutions as well ideal in internet cafes.

http://www.antamediabandwidth.com will provides you best possible solutions to lemmatize the use of your internet bandwidth with the help of Bandwidth Management. This software not only helps you to monitor your bandwidth but also provides you internet security. We hope you have enjoyed this article.

How to Reset Internet Explorer Settings

Posted on 05:34 by Unknown

The web technology has been one of the most rapidly developing fields of technology. Just from static simple html web pages who could do nothing except delivering you information, the web pages have evolved to the extent that today's web pages even remembers your password and which computer you logged in last time and several other data. So, as the technology flourishes so do its problems and drawbacks.

There are several problems prevalent today which might arise in your web browser. Sometimes they become so severe leaving no option for you other than uninstalling it. But if you're an Internet Explorer user, you have another option called resetting its settings. Resetting Internet explorer will bring it to the condition and state similar to the day when you freshly installed your operating system. All settings will be removed, all passwords and history of web pages will be erased, but you can be happy that your favorites or your feeds or web slices will be there as they were. They will remain unaltered and unchanged. Rest everything you will have to start it all over again. But it will at least offer you a good option during troubleshooting. One other point is that once you opt for resetting your Internet explorer, you can't undo your action. It is irreversible and all data along with the settings will be lost. There will be no more prompting of web URL's or even email addresses or any other assistance. You will have to configure your browser all over again.

Taking an elaborated look at the settings which will be deleted, we can conclude that the toolbars or add-ons which you had disabled will be gone, the settings which blocked certain websites or trusted zones will be effaced, security settings , advanced settings, home page, etc will be set to default and settings of pop-up blocker will be wiped off. Settings that remain as it were are proxy and VPN settings, certificate information, Favorites, feeds, web slices, etc. read all instructions carefully before you go for resetting so that you can configure your Internet browser as is was in your personalized settings.

To perform resetting of the Internet Explorer 7 or 8 you have to follow some very easy steps as mentioned below:

First of all close all windows explorer windows or other Internet explorer windows and start the Internet explorer from start menu by clicking on start button.
You will have a menu in the top part of the window, if you don't have press' Alt key'. Once you have it click on tools and go to ‘Internet Options'.
There you will have several tabs, browse to ‘Advanced tab' and click ‘reset' there.
If you opt for ‘deleting personal settings' by checking it, it will remove all entries of home page, download history, searches, etc.
Then in the dialog box called "Reset Internet Explorer settings", click on Reset.
And there you go, your browser will be reset and once it completes click on ‘Close' and then ‘OK'.
Close Internet Explorer settings and restart it. All new settings will be applied.

As mentioned earlier, be careful before resetting the settings and make yourself aware of all consequences which will arise after that. After all we don't want the troubleshooting process to become troublesome.

Are We Addicted to Internet Bandwidth Like We Are to Petroleum, asks Mike Farrell aspenIbiz

Posted on 04:28 by Unknown
During my career with Deloitte in the San Francisco Bay Area, I consulted with companies that were building and using the Internet; these included network equipment manufactures, developers of application software for networks, and bandwidth and service providers. We developed web-mail, VOIP, and web-based video conferencing products. At that time, we thought of the Internet as an infinite resource; an endless collection of content and information. Now, a little over a decade later, this could not be further from the truth.

Yes the Internet is a vast resource. But as with oil, the fuel that powers the Internet is finite. And if we fail to act soon, the way in which we access and use the Internet could change forever.

Where can we find scarcity on the web? Look no further than bandwidth.

Bandwidth is the capacity to move information. When you pay your Internet bill, you are paying for bandwidth; this is why higher bandwidth options like cable or DSL cost more than older, lower-bandwidth dial-up. Your phone bill is made up of bandwidth too; all those texts you receive, the e-mails you get, and the calls you make, are really just bandwidth. Even your cable TV bill is for bandwidth.

But if your bandwidth is just a pipeline to information, why are we spending so much on it? Information is supposed to be free, right? Well, the main factors that make up bandwidth costs are network maintenance and upgrades, as well as scarcity (more on scarcity in just a moment).

When a mobile carrier builds a new cell tower or a cable TV provider installs new cables, that's an upgrade cost. It costs the company money to build that infrastructure and the costs are passed down to the consumers who use it. No problem.

But where things get interesting is scarcity. The Internet is not quite as infinite as we would like to think and that shortage of available bandwidth commands a hefty premium. Just look at text messaging.

A recent tech blog post asked, "Do Text Messages Cost Too Much?" Of course they do; they are a complete rip-off. All you have to do is look at the little amount of bandwidth they require.

As a reference point, 600 text messages hold less data and use less bandwidth than a minute long phone call. To get an idea how popular texting has become, the average number of text messages per month has risen to 75 billion messages, which is over 10 times the average number of text messages per month of three years ago.

A government investigative committee recently asked the largest carriers why text messages costs have doubled since 2005. Surprisingly, each of the companies increased the price of text messaging at nearly the same time with identical price increases. These factors are hardly consistent with vigorous price competition that would occur in a competitive marketplace.

This scenario and growth rate highlights the power these protected utilities have over the marketplace. It also shows how misguided our legislators are when it comes to dealing with real technological problems.

Recent studies show that Americans spend as much on bandwidth as they do on energy. A family of four likely spends several hundred dollars a month on cell phones, cable television and Internet connections; this amount is about what we spend on gas and heating oil.

Internet companies, cable companies, wireless cell providers, and phone companies have a vested interest in keeping the supply of bandwidth low just as OPEC does with the production of oil. Scarce bandwidth means higher phone, TV, and Internet bills and ultimately more profits for the companies involved.

The federal government licenses, to communication companies, access to the airwaves. Many of the licensees of the radio frequency spectrum in the airwaves are not doing a very good job of using this resource efficiently. Over 90% of the airwaves are empty at any time.

Relying on monopolistic telecom providers for transmission of information is a dangerous path on which to continue. The best solution is to increase competition and open up nationwide the unused airwaves, or white space between channels, to provide additional high-speed Internet capacity all across the country. If telcos get the reigns to the white space, we can kiss goodbye the chance of seeing any improvement in bandwidth costs.

With continued government inaction, with continued restriction of the airways, and with the number of connected people in the world expected to double from 2.5 billion to 5 billion by 2015, there will be significant bandwidth scarcity.

Just think about the situation with oil. If someone needs to lower the amount spent on gas for commuting to work, they can't change the gas prices or the length of the commute time, but they can change one thing, their car. If they trade in their SUV for a hybrid, they can become more efficienct and they can decrease their commuting costs substantially.

As with lowering the commuting cost, the key to solving high bandwidth costs and scarcity is with efficiency.

A breakthrough technology that is revolutionary and providing efficiency for the internet service provider networks is called a control plane system that bridges the gap between hardware and software. This provides the capability to dynamically allocate data packets and bandwidth to users on the network of carriers with high-bandwidth networks. It is a way for individuals, businesses, government agencies, and academic institutions to lower their bandwidth costs and increase the performance of their networks.

This is a very important objective in today's budget-conscious economy; just like a commuter lowering their commuting costs.

I trust this post is providing some background and evidence that powerful breakthroughs in Carrier Ethernet, used in high-bandwidth networks, are underway. Transformative technology is driving solutions to bandwidth scarcity that could make you an Information Revolution Millionaire.

I favor a quote from Steve Forbes. Forbes says that pursuing additional financial education and the resulting increase in our financial literacy (including the investment potential of breakthrough technology) will open our eyes to alternative wealth creating strategies and this will be the key to resolving our financial crisis.

To gain the necessary financial education, it is best to obtain association with, access to, and membership in a wealth creation community. As a result, you will learn and have the knowledge to use alternative wealth creating strategies such as Bank on Yourself, debt reduction, and asset protection. You will be exposed to wealth acceleration investments in areas (discussed in previous blog posts) such as Carrier Ethernet technologies, nanotech lithography, robotics, nano-based next-generation battery technology, precious metals, water rights, oil, natural gas, potash mines, food commodities, and gold mines. You will have the knowledge to consider investments in energy assets that are inherently useful like oil rigs, hydropower, or methanol plants; things that are hard to build, difficult to replace, and costly to substitute; definitely not financial stocks, definitely not retail stocks, definitely not commercial property.

It is wise to monitor breakthrough technology as there are truly exciting developments afoot in the field of Carrier Ethernet technologies. I will continue to monitor developments and provide updates in future articles and at my blog over the next few weeks.

Finally, I want to thank Greg Guenthner and Jim Nelson of Agora Financial as they were the source of some of the materials about the technology advancements mentioned in this post.

Internet T3 is a transmission connection framing 28 T1 lines into one communications path.  This particular line supplies conduit for any files mixture; voice or video applications. The versatility of T3 is ideal for consumers or clients who have great needs for intensive info. Its private networks or backbone applications require channel transports. Internet T3 and DS3 are words utilized interchangeably. However there's no single technical meaning for it thus utilizing either is acceptable. What's essential is to recognize the terms; wherever DS3 refers with a framing (format of transmission) and T3 pertains into a facility for signal transmission or type of connection. T3 comes in a variety of speeds at various cost points to meet specific client wants.

You could be questioning why you'd probably will need an Internet T3 support. Well, most enterprises nowadays are continually demanding greater bandwidth. In the event you might have a medium-sized enterprise that utilizes specialized applications for storage backup services, movie conferencing, video content editing, Web hosting and VPNs, amongst various other hosted applications possessing higher-bandwidth demands, AT&T's T3 can offer the bandwidth suited to you. This assistance is accessible in many locations however it has particular availability and pricing. However T3 isn't the only high-bandwidth service offered by AT&T because it also offers T3 as well as other fractional T3 speeds with AT&T services as the immediate option in most parts of the country and inside metropolitan area. Internet Banking ? A Global Way To Banks In India

Posted on 05:32 by Unknown

Today we are in the era of globalisation. Multinational organisations worldwide have adopted globalisation as their first strategic choice. Advancement in technology has facilitated globalisation too.   There has been a marked improvement particularly in the area of maintenance, storage, availability and transfer of data. The world has literally shrunk to become a "global village".

Banks have transformed themselves and are offering services through internet.  From computerization to networking to ATMs and now E-Banking, banks have moved up the value chain.  Internet banking refers to the use of internet as a remote delivery channel for banking services.   It means any user with a personal computer and a browser can get connected to his bank website to perform any of the virtual banking functions.    The number of visits to the bank can be minimized effectively by operating from the internet account. Thus the number of contacts required to perform a transaction and solve a problem has been reduced through online banking.  The usual branches of banks have culminated into PC networks, whereby the consumer can draw all the benefits and services of the bank at a single click of the mouse. Once the branch offices of bank are interconnected through terrestrial or satellite links, there would be no physical identity for any branch. It would a borderless entity permitting anytime, anywhere and anyhow banking.  A customer can log on banks website and access his account.

Evolution of technology in Indian banking

The technological development4 in banking can be traced as follows:-

1960 - Mechanised banking introduced.
1970 - Introduction of computer based banking industry.
1980 - Introduction of computer-linked communication based banking.

Advent of computer technology has created a major impact on working of banks.  The computerization and subsequent development in history of Indian banks can be traced back to 1966 when Indian Bankers Association (IBA) along with exchange banks associationsigned first wage settlement with the unions, which accounted for the use of IBM or ICT accounting machines for inter-branch reconciliation etc.   A committee on computerization and mechanisation was appointed by RBI in 1983 under chairmanship of Dr. C. Rangrajan recommended that computerization and installation of Advanced Ledger Posting Machines (ALPM) at branch, regional and head offices of banks will bring around a new era in banking.  Narsimhan Committee in 1991 paved way for reform phase in banking.  Saraf Committee was constituted by RBI in 1994 that recommended the use of Electronic Fund Transfer System (EFT), introduction of electronic clearing services and extension of Magnetic Ink Character Recognition (MICR) beyond metropolitan cities and branches.

The rate of adoption of IT by foreign and private sector bank in the country has been significant over the last five years, which can be attributed to fierce competition and the internet phenomena worldwide.  The arrival of private and multinational banks with their superior state of the art technology based services pushed the Indian banks to follow the suit by going in for the latest technologies to meet the threat of competitors and retain their customer base. "The last four years have seen dramatic changes, making customers' convenience critical aspect of banking”.  Indian metros are surging ahead in online banking usage.  Today the delivery channel of banks include direct dial up connections, private networks, public networks etc. and the devices include telephone, Personal Computers including Automated Teller Machines, etc.

Impact of on line banking

It has been observed that customers who adopt online banking are typically more profitable to the bank, stay with the bank longer and use more products strengthening the bank customer relationship.  Information Technology and Internet banking has bridged the information gap, which was interestingly because of human involvement.  Banks can make the information of products and services available on their site, which is, an advantageous proposition.

Prospective customer can gather all the information from the website and thus if he comes to the branch with queries it will be very specific and will take less time of employee.  Customer can visit these websites and can compare the services offered by a bank with that of another.  Customer can get all the information, by saving money and time.  The trend thus emerging out is that of virtual corporate system where the human role is minimized to maximum effect.

The overall banking size and structure has increased considerably.  It can also be accredited to the current market characteristics.  More private players and multinational banks are establishing their base in India.  Earlier nationalized bank dominated the scenario.  Now after deregulation private banks have emerged as a powerful force.  As a result, there is a fierce competition among these players for capturing the savings of individuals and current accounts of organisations.  This has been spearheaded by the liberalization in the insurance industry.  Insurance industry is giving fierce competition through their offerings on various policies.  This sudden surge has necessitated the use of technology in offering better services competitively.  Most of the banks have coupled IT with their offering to add value.

Several banks have been positioning themselves as a one-stop shop financial service provider with a fairly exhaustive range of products, including deposit products, loans, credit cards, debit cards, depository (custody services), investment advice, bill payments and various transactional services.  These apart, banks have also been entering into the business of selling third-party products such as mutual funds and insurance to the retail customers.  To provide their customers greater flexibility and convenience as well as to reduce servicing costs, banks have been investing to computerize their branches and in new delivery channels such as ATMs, phone banking, internet banking and mobile banking.

Internet banking in India

The Reserve Bank of India constituted a working group on Internet Banking. The group       divided the internet banking products in India into 3 types based on the levels of access granted. They are:

Information Only System General Purpose information like interest rates, branch location, bank products and their features, loan and deposit calculations are provided in the banks website. There exist facilities for downloading various types of application forms. The communication is normally done through e-mail. There is no interaction between the customer and bank's application system. No identification of the customer is done. In this system, there is no possibility of any unauthorized person getting into production systems of the bank through internet.
Electronic Information Transfer System The system provides customer- specific information in the form of account balances, transaction details, and statement of accounts. The information is still largely of the 'read only' format. Identification and authentication of the customer is through password. The information is fetched from the bank's application system either in batch mode or off-line. The application systems cannot directly access through the internet.
Fully Electronic Transactional System This system allows bi-directional capabilities. Transactions can be submitted by the customer for online update. This system requires high degree of security and control. In this environment, web server and application systems are linked over secure infrastructure. It comprises technology covering computerization, networking and security, inter-bank payment gateway and legal infrastructure.

Internet banking can be categorized in following stages:
Information Kiosks
: traditional information on banking products and services are available on the website of the bank.
Basic I-Banking:  Here, bank sets up infrastructure for internet banking and for accessing basic services like opening an account, paying utility bills and checking the balance.
Virtual medium: Here internet is taken as an official medium for financial transactions.  Buying and selling activities can be undertaken through banks payment gateway technology. Today most of the banks are having their own functional websites through which banks are serving customers.

To pay our bills, all we need to do is complete a simple one-time registration for each biller. We can also set up standing instructions online to pay our recurring bills, automatically. The bank does not charge customers for online bill payment.
Fund transfer We can transfer any amount from one account to another of the same or any another bank. Once we login to your account, we need to mention the payees’ account number, his bank and the branch. The transfer will take place in a day or so, whereas in a traditional method, it takes about three working days. ICICI Bank says that online bill payment service and fund transfer facility have been their most popular online services.
Credit card customers With Internet banking, customers can not only pay their credit card bills online but also get a loan on their cards. If we lose our credit card, we can report lost card online.
Railway pass Indian Railways has tied up with ICICI bank and we can now make our railway pass for local trains online. The pass will be delivered to us at our doorstep. But the facility is limited to Mumbai, Thane, Nasik, Surat and Pune.

Investing through Internet banking We can now open an FD online through funds transfer. Now investors with interlinked demat account and bank account can easily trade in the stock market and the amount will be automatically debited from their respective bank accounts and the shares will be credited in their demat account. Moreover, some banks even give us the facility to purchase mutual funds directly from the online banking system.

Recharging prepaid phone Now we just top-up our prepaid mobile cards by logging in to Internet banking. By just selecting our operator's name, entering our mobile number and the amount for recharge, our phone is again back in action within few minutes.
Shopping With a range of all kind of products, we can shop online and the payment is also made conveniently through our account. We can also buy railway and air tickets through Internet banking.

Advantages of online banking

The advantages of online banking can be encapsulated as:
- Convenient
-Unaffected by boundation of operational timings.

-No geographical barriers

- Services can be offered at very low cost

-cost per transaction through internet banking is very low.

Challenges in internet banking

Internet banking in India is in its earliest stage of development.  Most of them are offering basic services only.  The deregulation of banking industry coupled with the emergence of new banking technologies is enabling new competitors to enter the financial services market quickly and efficiently.
Indian internet banking faces following challenges:

Proper understanding of the customer For this a massive survey must be undertaken may be in collaboration with other banks.
Need for transparency in offering services as customers awareness has grown considerably.
Breach of privacy online transactions enter straightaway into the records revealing the identity of customer.  Thus black money cannot be transferred with ease.
Bandwidth Though companies claim to offer good speed and high bandwidth, still there are problems in accessing high speed on net.  Internet banking can go high only on the wings of proper infrastructure comprising telecommunications and bandwidth.
Computer literacy in India is still very low and that is a barrier in fast acceptance of Internet banking.
The mindset of the Indian customer needs to be changed.
Cracking login and passwords is a common way of fiddling with the data.
Denial of services Directing millions of queries can block computer network.
Data Diddling Data can be modified in an unauthorized manner.  A customer can therefore receive bills of higher amounts than the actual transactions
Session hijacking Hijackers become unauthorized intermediaries between the server and the client; they can then hijack the data and prevent it from reaching the destination. Most online transactions involve disclosing up of the credit or debit card number.  Hackers can very easily track down these numbers.  They can thus enjoy the full benefits of the card without being an actual cardholder.                                                                                                                                           RBI has issued some guidelines on Internet banking for safety of customers and banks. Some of which are:
Application for account opening can be accepted over Internet but account should be opened only after proper introduction and physical verification of the customer.
Security procedure adopted by bank, for authenticating user, must be recognized by law as a substitute for signature, from a legal perspective.                                                                                                                               The secrecy and confidentiality of customers account has to be maintained.
Consumer Protection Act is applicable to banking services as well.

Information Technology Act 2000 has given legal recognition to creation, transmission and retention of an electronic (magnetic) data to be treated as evidence in court, except in those areas which continue to be governed by the provisions of Negotiable Instruments Act 1881.

Security precautions

Customers should never share personal information like PIN numbers, passwords etc with anyone, including employees of the bank. It is important that documents that contain confidential information are safeguarded. PIN or password mailers should not be stored, the PIN and/or passwords should be changed immediately and memorised before destroying the mailers.
Customers are advised not to provide sensitive account-related information over unsecured e-mails or over the phone. Take simple precautions like changing the ATM PIN and online login and transaction passwords on a regular basis. Also ensure that the logged in session is properly .Internet banking is changing the banking industry and is having the major effects on banking relationships out.

Security token devices

Protection through single password authentication, as is the case in most secure Internet shopping sites, is not considered secure enough for personal online banking applications in some countries. Basically there exist two different security methods for online banking.

The PIN/TAN system, the PIN represents a password which is used for the login and TAN represents one-time passwords to authenticate transactions. TANs can be distributed in different ways; the most popular one is to send a list of TANs to the online banking user by postal letter. The most secure way of using TANs is to generate them by need using a security token. These token generated TANs depend on the time and a unique secret, stored in the security token  which is called two-factor authentication or 2FA.Usually online banking with PIN/TAN is done via a web browser using SSL secured connections, so that there is no additional encryption needed. Signature based online banking where all transactions are signed and encrypted digitally. The Keys for the signature generation and encryption can be stored on smartcards or any memory medium, depending on the concrete implementation.

Attacks

Most of the attacks on online banking used today are based on deceiving the user to steal login data and valid TANs. Two well known examples for those attacks are phishing and pharming. Cross-site scripting and keylogger/Trojan horses can also be used to steal login information.

A method to attack signature based online banking methods is to manipulate the used software in a way, that correct transactions are shown on the screen and faked transactions are signed in the background.

Countermeasures

There exist several countermeasures which try to avoid attacks. Digital certificates are used against phishing and pharming, the use of class-3 card readers is a measure to avoid manipulation of transactions by the software in signature based online banking variants. To protect their systems against Trojan horses, users should use virus scanners and be careful with downloaded software or e-mail attachments.’

Conclusion

Internet banking is changing the banking industry and is having the major effects on banking relationships.  The net banking, thus, "now is more of a norm rather than an exception in many developed countries" due to the fact that it is the economical way of providing banking services.  Banking is now no longer confined to the traditional brick and mortar branches.  There is need to scan and analyse the market and respond to the needs of customers and to generate awareness regarding advantages of internet banking. Providing internet banking is increasingly becoming a 'need to have' than a 'nice to have' services.

Broadband TV and Internet Access - Online TV Marketplace Challenges

Posted on 05:30 by Unknown

The Broadband's deployment this millennium and lately this last lap of this decade has increase the penetration rates generated by dial-up Internet-access services that primary markets are consumers whose PCs have 56- or 28.8-kbps modems.

Cable subscribers now taking a huge advantage of their cable modem has made the market race for broadband astronomical. According to Forrester Research, only 6% of the U.S.' online households subscribe to a cable, telephone or wireless service providers' broadband service. In raw numbers, that totals about 3 million homes.

Broadband technology has come to stay with its early debut of making online TV watching a reality and video streaming an enjoyable experience for PC users, the future is definitely laden with better economics for this technology. According to Forrester Research, in 2005, DSL, cable modem and other broadband connections will hit the 35-million mark in the U.S. As at 2007 December it hits over 66 million!

According to a May, 2000, report from the marketing research firm Forward Concepts. They predict that such broadband-enabled services as packet voice transmission, e-commerce, videoconferencing, virtual private networks, and gaming will drive demand, particularly in the residential and small office-home office (SOHO) markets. Note this estimates precludes densely populated developing countries like India, Japan and China, worldwide it is estimated to be close to 150 million mark by the end of 2008.

It was estimated that out of that 35-million-customer market seen in 2005, cable will account for 60% of the subscribership, with DSL dominating the SOHO and enterprise markets. For companies with fewer than 20 people, DSL penetration rates could near 50% and run as high as 75% in businesses with up to 100 people, according to Forward Concepts.

Broadband today is a dream come true for internet users, for it is a technology that have made possible the seamless integration of the broadcast and transmission of all forms of data especially heavy graphics such as video streaming without loss of picture quality compare to other internet access medium.

Cyber war is not the Cold War

Posted on 13:51 by Unknown

The recurring use of the Cold War as analogy for cyberwar is not well thought out.  At Black Hat last week in Vegas, Jeff Moss recalled his youth and the gloom that overhung the world knowing there was the threat of global annihilation that could occur with only twenty minutes warning.  The US, China, and USSR built up massive stockpiles of nuclear warheads and the missiles, bombers, and submarines needed to deliver them while engaging in espionage to uncover the others’ strategies, technology, and movements.   This balanced threat of massive retaliation or an overwhelming first strike capability led to an uneasy global peace that has lasted 65 years.  Yes there have been regional wars in Korea, Vietnam, Iran-Iraq that have cost millions of lives, but nothing like the all out war that could have occurred between the Soviet Union and Western Europe, or China and the Soviet Union, either one of which would have pulled the US into WWIII.   The Cold War ended in 1990 when the Soviet Union dissolved. The world’s democracies and the peoples of Estonia, Ukraine, and the other ex-Soviet states were the winners.
But cyberwar is not the Cold War. There is no balance of power, there Is no imminent threat of the world coming to an abrupt end.  Richard Clarke and Robert R. Knake use the Cold War analogy extensively in their book Cyber War: The next threat to national security and what to do about it. They and others call for a cyber build up reminiscent of the huge spending spree on technology that led to rapid development of space flight as well as miniaturization of thermo-nuclear warheads.

But what Clarke, Knake, and most other people engaged in this debate don’t seem to realize is that cyberwar is an extension of the threat that the Cold War fought.  Cyber attacks could be the destabilizing events that lead one country to launch its nuclear arsenal against the other.
I agree with Gen. Michael Hayden(retired), the former  director of the NSA,  also speaking at Black Hat last week, that cyber espionage is not cyberwar.    Yet, espionage is still widely practiced. This summer saw prosecutions of both Chinese and  Russian spies embedded in the US.  Cyber espionage - intelligence gathering using computers and networks - is easy, inexpensive, and low risk.  The danger is when that espionage probes for weaknesses in command and control networks that, if exploited, could disrupt war fighting capability.

The one-time president of McAfee once told me of a chilling scenario.  Two countries with nuclear arms in a stand off, both developing weapons grade viruses.  The goal: disable the other’s ability to communicate with their missile silos long enough for the aggressor to launch a preemptive first strike. These two countries have fought six conventional wars, developed nuclear warheads and the missiles to deliver them, and happen to have technically advanced economies that rely on the Internet for communications and commerce.   While India and Pakistan are the most obvious adversaries there are plenty of other members of the nuclear club with North Korea and Iran racing to join.

I don’t worry about cyberwar.  We can survive network attacks that shut down the Internet and our so called critical infrastructure.  But can we survive a nuclear war that is triggered by a cyber attack that temporarily destabilizes a touchy balance of power?

Internet T3 Is the Perfect Option for Significant Corporations

Posted on 05:31 by Unknown

Internet T3 is the greatest entry alternative for plenty of businesses, mainly because it might produce fast accessibility for a tremendous number of users in the exact same time. Almost all little businesses only use T1 for all their accessibility. T3 can easily supply the swiftest and most dependable World-wide-web program. Additionally, it contains really safeguarded firewall program in which protects security of its consumers.

T3 connection offers enough bandwidth that is definitely effective to transfer full genuine time video. It's particularly significant database above occupied network. Internet T3 users involve massive size businesses that have large requirements upon files such as video conferencing, huge scale VPN and among hosted application servers. Most software program businesses demand beyond T1 capability which is effective to handle customer loads and download traffic onto FTP servers so as to get into patches as well as being the brand new editions of the product. Nearby and regional internet program providers use T3 as being the central source for the consumer's broadband delivery. Various T1 users and also other customers of comparable program  in which supply cheaper bandwidth has outgrown their options and are thinking about T3 program.

This really is mainly because T3 users are usually usually substantial traffic internet sites, from mid-sized to big web hosting businesses such as  call centers, medical centers and schools. However, the amount for Internet T3 lines is definitely somewhat pricey. This can be on account of their great ability that causes them highly in demand being a important need meant for the current World-wide-web. Furthermore, T3 lines usually are obviously even more complex when compared with T1 lines and also that is mainly because they perform 29 T1 lines almost all at once, which often needs extra software program and equipment to perform properly in others.

Internet T3 line is definitely mega higher velocity connection that is definitely is actually capable to transfer files up to 40 5 megabytes per second. It's the same to virtually 672 average voice grade in telephone lines, so it truly is swift enough to perform the real-time full-motion video using a quite massive data source. Take into account that almost all Internet T3 users happen to be sizeable businesses that make sure presently there will probably be no downtime encounters throughout the job day and additionally make certain effective business flow.

In case you are operating in a environment that constantly involves huge amounts of files transfer in day-to-day business operations, then you will see the significance of files transmission in Internet T3 solutions. It is surely an exceptional decision in your case. In addition, if you are operating upon high-level requirements that likewise needs high-level security and reliably rapid files transmission than Internet T3 solutions the perfect alternative. Internet T3 line is generally applied as the significant networking line for vast corporations and establishments in which necessitate bigger quantity of network traffic.

What Internet T3 program needs to deliver to huge businesses are terrific. It's the ability to improve the corporation's practice and administration of telecommunications. Transferring files will probably be produced less hazardous, swifter and also a lot more trusted.

This suggests it's efficient at accommodating a lot more workforce. Even though T3 Internet solutions really contain something to offer to a good deal of larger sized businesses, not all of them in fact require Internet T3 solutions. For this reason, just before you compromise to an arrangement select your own provider sensibly and thus generally take into account the varied aspects particularly your main business desires.

Legislating Global Internet Freedom

Posted on 23:16 by Unknown

There is a disturbing tendency on the part of the US Congress to legislate the Internet.  A case in point is HR 2271 backed by eleven US Represntatives and submitted to review by the House Energy and Commerce and Foreign Affairs Commitees last May(2009).  Thankfully, there has been no serious deliberation on this proposed measure which intends to somehow regulate the Internet to promote, ironically, freedom of speech.  In its preamble the intent is well articulated:

To prevent United States businesses from cooperating with repressive governments in transforming the Internet into a tool of censorship and surveillance, to fulfill the responsibility of the United States Government to promote freedom of expression on the Internet, to restore public confidence in the integrity of United States businesses, and for other purposes.

Reading between the lines you can discern that this bill was proposed in part in a reaction to Google, Yahoo! and Microsoft engaging in less than ethical collusion with the Chinese government; activities that have led to incarceration of bloggers and restrictions on access to information.

The Bill has sections devoted to:

Creating an annual report that identifies those countries that engage in restrictive Internet activity (105.) Would this watch list contain Australia which is setting up a massive filtering infrastructure to protect its citizens from the less tasteful content on the Internet?  Would it include Germany which has attempted to ban hacking tools? Or the EU which has considered blocking searches that include certain key words like “bomb”?  Would it identify the US which, thanks to widespread eavesdropping on ATT’s network by the NSA has frightened businesses away from ever hosting data in a country where they perceive that data to be unsafe from snooping?

Setting up the Office of Global Internet Freedom reporting to the Secretary of State and led by a Director(104.) I suspect just the name of this department will create additional work for the State Department to smooth ruffled feathers of those that may take umbrage to the US unilaterally setting Global policies of any sort.   Ironically the only defined task for this Office will be to “ identify key words, terms, and phrases relating to human rights, democracy, religious free exercise, and peaceful political dissent..” an activity that in itself smacks of thought control.
Section 203 requires any US company that imposes changes to their search results at the behest of one of the listed countries must report it to the Director of The Office of Global Internet Freedom (DOGIF).  Section 204 has similar regulatory burdens for any US company that hosts information.  This is obviously targeted at Google, Microsoft, and Yahoo,  but there are thousands of online content and search engine companies that could fall under these requirements.

HR 2271 also points out in its preamble:

“ A number of United States businesses have enabled the Internet censorship and surveillance of repressive governments by selling these governments or their agents technology or training.”

Luckily it stops short of proposing the restriction of sale of that technology. It is hoped that the backers realized the tremendous damage they could inflict on the US’s networking industry if they attempted to restrict commerce to the extent necessary to stop the sale of all technology that can be used for restricting access to information. It would include all firewalls, routers, and content inspection technology.

There seems little danger of HR 2271 ever coming to a vote but…We must keep a wary eye on this 111th Congress that has over 40 measures under consideration that bear on highly technical issues. A misstep could be costly and have debilitating consequences for a fragile economy.   Global Internet Freedom will be best served by governments of all types avoiding any meddling in the still young Internet.

Why you should use GoToMyPC for Internet Remote PC Access & Control?

Posted on 05:30 by Unknown

GoToMyPC is a service provided by Citrix Online. Citrix Online is a division of Citrix Systems the top performing, NASDAQ listed, networking company.

With these credentials to back it up GoToMyPC has established itself as the foremost remote desktop control service. It is simply the most user friendly, most reliable and most secure remote desktop access service available.

If you are not really a computer geek, but you need access to your work PC from home or vice versa, then you should have a serious look at the PC remote control service provided by GoToMyPC.

GoToMyPC is a managed service. That means that you don’t have to open ports, configure IP addresses, concern yourself with firewalls or user rights, or do anything else that steals your time.

Installation requires a few simple clicks of the mouse. Go to the GoToMyPC site and follow the instructions. The service will install a small program on the computer that you want to access remotely.

You can then access your PC with any other PC with a web browser and an Internet connection. Simply surf to the GoToMyPC website and from there you call up your computer.

The security of your PC is of the utmost importance with this type of application. This may be the most important reason why you should not use any remote PC access service. GoToMyPC uses a unique 128-bit encrypted key for each connection. The encryption key is based on an access code that resides on the host computer and a random bit sequence. The access code is never transmitted or stored on the Citrix Online servers. Simply put, your PC-to-PC communications cannot be hacked.

Citrix Online has a strong privacy policy and will not disclose your information to third parties.

The above factors need to be considered carefully when you choose a remote access service. Rest assured that your personal information and the integrity of your PC is safe when you use Citrix GoToMyPC. This may not necessarily be true for any other service provider.

Is There Internet Access in Airplanes?

Posted on 05:30 by Unknown

Gone are the days when you have to endure being off-limits and unreachable as you travel hundreds to thousands of miles via airplane. In the past, nobody thought Internet access while on board a plane could be possible. Now, it is not just a target or an aim. Internet connection in airplanes is now among the newest features and add-on services of air carriers.

Major global airlines are now offering Internet access even while planes are flying. Air carriers are entering into partnership with wireless Internet access providers to provide online connection to people who are on board. The technology is still a new one, but it is one that is fast gaining popularity. Many passengers have been complaining about not being able to access Internet while on flights. Now, those complaints could be all gone.

Many businessmen hate long-haul trips not because of the tediousness and long hours of travel but because they are missing a lot. Some business people prefer to stay online even while away from the office to be able to monitor goings-on in the workplace and to retrieve important data and information. Most of them also want to stay connected via email and online messaging services. Now, no matter how far and how long air travel could get, there is no excuse for not being able to stay online.

While during the 1990s, further improvements in telephone communications was the focus of customer and industry interests, the new millennium has shifted the focus to better Internet access. To date, mobile Internet access has become really popular after being widely deployed particularly at ground level. From there, telecom and air navigation industries are now focusing at offering mobile online connectivity even on a moving plane.

The need for Internet access while on board airplanes come as modern air travelers acknowledge their necessities to acquire more than the simple voice services they usually get to be able to connect to the world even while on journey. Web access provide more complex information-based services like emailing, virtual private networking, and instant messaging to be able to secure reliable access to corporate networks.

How was it made possible? The first and initial phases of the effort involved inter-twined ground access wireless towers. But because this strategy does not yield satisfactory and good results, plus there are limitations on long-haul flights, another way of online connection was sought. Now, most Internet access providers on flights use different satellite services for online transmission. Through using routers and Wi-Fi connection facilities, airplanes are now made online, anyone with a laptop could log online anytime he wants and needs to.

Is the service costly? Because the feature is still new in the airline industry, additional charges of about an average $13 is imposed for anyone who voluntarily applies for the service. Most airlines could still not waive the cost and offer the service for free because Internet access through satellite systems is costing them much. It is said that if not because of the further intensifying competition, airlines would not resort to offering Internet access in flights.

However, the usefulness and reliability could not be underestimated. Internet access provided by planes is really among the most popular, sought-after, and well-raved about features and services offered by airlines and Internet service providers. Many more airlines are expected to follow suit and start offering in-flight Web access.

Internet Security Camera: Remotely Monitoring your Home

Posted on 05:33 by Unknown

Being away from your home is always an unpleasant feeling especially when you're on vacation, principally if you don't know what's happening inside your home. You will have thoughts of getting robbed, and getting your home invaded by strangers.

With this kind of thought, you will most probably have an unpleasant vacation. Having a vacation means that you should relax and take it easy. It is a fact that you can't bring everything inside your home. So, the best way to protect all your things is by locking your home whenever you leave. However, because of the lock picking skills that some people may have, locking your home is not really enough.

Home alarm systems are very expensive. So, one good idea for securing your home and record every second on what's happening inside your home is through an internet security camera. These are cameras that can be accessed through the internet. With this kind of technology, you can remotely access your home computer installed with the internet security camera and instantly get live images of your home.

The camera also has remote control features that you can use in order to get a full view on what's going on in every part of your home.

The internet security camera can send live images directly over IP network and enables authorized users to remotely or locally access the camera. It will allow you to access the camera by typing in your user name and password.

Since the internet security camera can be controlled, you can make it tilt, pan, zoom and take a look at any part of the house as long as it is in the range of the camera.

Some cameras are wirelessly connected to your computer which allows it to be placed anywhere in you house as long as it is in its signal range.

With access to the camera, you can record the images being transmitted with your remote computer. You will be able to store and record the images. So, in case something happens in your house, such as someone breaking and entering, you can record it and show it to the police. Because of this ability, the police can catch the criminal easier.

Some cameras can even record sound and can be in color or in black and white image. Click and white images is cheaper and offers better quality.

So, if you want peace of mind when leaving your home, you can consider installing an internet security camera. With this kind of camera, you can access your home wherever you are in the world. The internet can be a powerful tool that you can use for security purposes.

With this kind of security, you can be sure that you will know everything that is happening inside you home. The thought of leaving your home will never be unpleasant again. With the internet security camera, you will bring your home with you wherever you go.

So, if you want to secure your home, purchase an internet security camera. You will also need a high speed internet connection in order for you to access your internet security camera, and a compatible operating system. With this kind of technology, you will get your home secured from robberies. Locks is a thing of the past, secure your home with an internet security camera.

Speeding up Slow Internet Application Performance

Posted on 05:31 by Unknown

A friend of mine runs a company that runs training labs for IT users all over the world. He had a problem with his latest application, which was a lab simulator for a complex server, storage, and virtualization environment. The problem was, everybody outside the United States was experiencing extremely slow performance.

Application performance over the Internet is a tricky thing. It depends on a number of different aspects of the TCP/IP stack working correctly. TCP is a protocol that is optimized for reliable transmission of traffic over a medium in which packets are expected to be dropped. It does this through a combination of packet retransmission requests, packet sequence ordering, and TCP windowing. TCP automatically adjusts to the available bandwidth by using dynamic windowing, and it always starts with a small window and ramps up to the point where TCP packets dropped that have to be retransmitted, so there is always a slow start in any Internet connection. Because of the TCP windowing, if any packets are dropped during a TCP/IP session, the window size gets smaller and effective bandwidth for the application drops.

What happens when TCP/IP traffic is transmitted worldwide, especially over the Internet when it goes through a number of different service providers and their peering points, is that packets are dropped as a matter of course. Due to the inherent nature of the protocol and situation, this means bandwidth, performance, and latency are going to be poor for an application requiring interactivity. Large organizations have always done with this issue by building out a worldwide private Wide Area Network.

Our engineers have been working with customers for years upgrading and improving their wide-area networks in order to deliver the best application performance to the remote sites possible. We are very familiar with how this is done when using a leased circuit service such as MPLS, both with QoS at the routers, and Wide Area Application Acceleration. This has been much more difficult to do with applications delivered over the Internet to individual users, and in most cases we haven't even tried.

What my friend needed, was a way to do application acceleration for individual users over the Internet, without installing any applications on their PCs, or putting any special hardware at their location at all. This is trickier than it sounds, since each of the reasons for TCP bandwidth limitation have to be addressed in order to have the application work properly. After the TCP protocol issues are addressed, then the information needs to be compressed at the head end and expanded at the remote site, which would effectively increase the available bandwidth for the application and then accelerate the application speed.

If he were to build out this, he would need a special acceleration server at his data center, and then another acceleration server at the Internet point of presence closest to each of its customers. The servers would have to be able to send packets to each other in a multiple redundant routes, perform compression using all the available current algorithms, have dynamic DNS to reroute the request to the server closest to the end-user, and the monitored all the time to make sure everything was working properly.

Obviously, this would have been a cost prohibitive exercise for my friend. Fortunately, he found a company that offers this type of acceleration as a service.

In fact, this company has tens of thousands of service deployed in most datacenters worldwide, which can be used for dynamic content delivered over the Internet. Examples of content that can be accelerated include:

Improve VDI (virtual desktop infrastructure) performance.

Speed up any end-user applications delivered by HTML or IP.

Remote office and end-user VPN acceleration.

Speed up large file transfers.

WAN supplementation or replacement.

Most organizations typically do a test run with whatever application is causing the most issues and problems at the time. This can be a VDI deployment to remote users that is experiencing unacceptably slow performance, slow remote desktop protocol sessions, slow enterprise application performance, or other similar issues that users or customers are complaining about.

If you are experiencing slow application performance over the Internet, you should definitely look for a company that's able to provide this service. A local reseller that is competent and experienced in improving network performance would be able to recommend a solution for you.

Obtain All The Benefits Which Internet T3 Can Present

Posted on 05:31 by Unknown

Besides a really rapid Web interconnection, high-
bandwidth along with reliability, Internet T1 and T3 connections give more safety. This kind associated with Web broadband interconnections is one of your admired process in which businesses use in interconnecting small area networks to our planet. That is appealing to plenty businesses of which involve enormous amounts of information transfer each day. This indicates T3 lines are approximately thirty times more immediate than T1 lines. even if it's pricey, the fee will be worth it. It is mainly desired as a reliable backbone of the modern day internet. Nevertheless, these are worth it because what you Take in return will be extremely dependable and advanced lines service.

Who needs Web T3 connections? Large size corporations in which have high information involvement like video conferencing, large scale VPN also hosting services. Also, consumers can download files at once. Most businesses need quick broadband Web interconnections in which value Web T3 Lines since they are certainly one of the high speed Web interconnections available in the actual market nowadays. customers log in to FTP servers in order to get into patches as well as the actual newer product versions. The actual primary users associated with Online T3 these days are those high-traffic websites, mid-sized to large-sized web hosting companies, call centers, medical centers, universities also even government offices. fastonline interconnections are very neededuseful for heavy traffic situations in the Web also for circumstances where a network needs accessibility with a bigger number associated with users.

Internet T3 line networks are used commonly by major companies because they give an extremelyla very quick information transport. The actual print industry for example, is a big consumer associated with bandwidth solutions since they send huge graphic files back and forth. Additionally, T lines present an incredibly trustworthy kindinvolving Internet access and constant capability with small rate involving slow Web interconnections.

The T line of Internet broadband networks is extensively used together with will be existing in most locations. T3 lines give satisfactory bandwidth to assist hosting associated with a number of high traffic websites together with steady reliable access for corporations, private institutions, schools and groups in which host high-volume websites. This signifies any probable efficiency level will increase as broadband Web access is a tremendously immediate, trustworthy together withconvenient. With regards to quickness, T3 lines perform at approximately 45 Mbps. When considering cost, Web T1 along with T3 Lines are completely premium services, which signifies they may be quite pricey. Both local along with regional Web Service Providers themselves utilize T3 circuits as backbone of the broadband delivery which will be customer or client oriented.

Although the actual majority associated with Online clients do not really need the huge benefits that both T1 along with T3 lines Online broadband connections give, those two connections agree to companies that have multiple users use the Online along with speak through phone at once along with the actual same phone connection. An Web T3 line which operates full capacity is able associated with accommodating more than 30 consumers. How to Effectively Use Your Internet Bandwidth?

Posted on 04:32 by Unknown

Hi....if you are a person like me, who uses the internet a lot, try to experiment with different software’s, download lots of freeware, shareware programs from the internet and use them....browse un-secure sites to find the under ground stuff, then this blog is definitely for you...

Do you know how much Internet Bandwidth you are using? You need to use a online Bandwidth Test or Bandwidth Meter Software. To test the Bandwidth Speed online use CNET Bandwidth Test, you can visit the URL http://reviews.cnet.com/Bandwidth_meter/7004-7254_7-0.html?tag=pm and fill the details and hit the Go button. Since the Server is hosted in US you may not get 100% accurate results, but you get a result which you can count on.

To use a Bandwidth Meter Software you can install software called DU Meter which can be downloaded from www.download.com, it would show you the actual utilization of your internet in real time.

I have a 512 Kbps Unlimited Airtel Broadband Connection, and I leave it on 24/7. I sometimes see that 120 Kbps bandwidth is being used without even one single browser open or any applications using internet.

Which program is using this bandwidth? Would be a very tough question to answer...and it’s very hard to get out of this problem...

There are 4 things which need to be fixed to fix this issue....

Install an Antivirus, remember how good the antivirus program is it needs the latest definition files to function effectively, update it and run a complete scan, if you don’t have access to internet at that time due to Virus, Spyware and Ad-ware killing your bandwidth you can get the antivirus signature update from computer magazine CD/DVD's like CHIP, DIGIT etc. If you don’t have a licensed copy of Antivirus, AVG is a good free one to choose....

Next you need to install a Spyware and Ad-ware removal tool. Go to www.download.com and install Ad-ware and Spybot Search and Destroy. Both are free tools but they don’t offer real time protection. You need to run them once in a while to remove Ad-ware and Spyware respectively. Remember you also need to update the definitions for effective removal.

Then run windows update and make sure that all critical updates are installed. If you have a pirated copy of Win XP and Windows Update wont work you can try Auto Patcher http://www.autopatcher.com which can be downloaded through torrents or you can find it on CHIP and Digit Magazine CD's.

If all these 4 are updated and your system goes through the scan without catching anything then you can rest assure that your system is free from Virus, Ad-ware and Spyware. And most importantly your system Operation System is upto date and the effect of Virus and Spyware would be not so much even if affected.

Have a specific problem send it to me for a quick solution :)
